A Mystical Experience

Overview

The charming city of Luang Prabang, once the capital of Laos and still considered to be its spiritual heart, breathes a rich meld of French Indochinese architecture, Theravada Buddhist temples and a magical atmosphere.

During the first week of the program you will be working at the small school at the village of Nunsavath which is a 15 minute drive from Luang Prabang.

As with most schools in Laos the teachers are dedicated, the children are keen to learn and the school has few if any facilities.

Our first task will be to bring some joy to recreation time for the children by building a large adventure play structure. It will be an innovative structure made from bamboo, a local material that will withstand the weather conditions.

Whist at the school there will be time and opportunities to work with the local teachers and the children. This may be in simple English lessons or just having fun with a friendly soccer game.

In the second week of the program we will be working at an elephant refuge. Working in the logging industry is a dangerous occupation for an elephant with many suffering from serious injuries and disease. Administrating effective treatment cannot usually be conducted in the field. Previously there were no safe options for elephants with heavy wounds and severe infections to receive proper attention.

Now, with the Elephant Hospital fully operational, it is possible to transport sick or injured elephants to the Center where they will receive the best medical care currently available in Laos.

Stay longer by adding an extension

The Laos Mystical Experience program lasts 14 days, but it doesn't have to end there... Adding an extension means you will be able to stay longer and achieve more, or enjoy another program, for much less than the cost of buying two separate programs.

Depending on the extension you choose, you can save around $500 / £325.
