Volunteer Peru: a Peruvian Adventure

Program Overview

You will be located in the World Heritage Site of Cusco, the historical capital of Peru, beside the Barrio de san Blas, the neighborhood of artisans, workshops and craft shops; the most picturesque part of a beautiful city.

Almost one third of Peru’s population lives under the poverty line, many of these being single mothers and children.

In this unique and eye-opening program, you will be working on a construction project at either an orphanage or a school for children in need. Past projects have included classroom construction and school renovations.

While in Cusco, you will have the opportunity to experience the rich, cultural diversity of Peru while simultaneously developing your Spanish language skills. As well as learning written and spoken Spanish, you will also learn about the ancient culture and society of Peru through cultural classes including traditional Peruvian cooking lessons and salsa dancing sessions. This unique combination of social work and cultural immersion allows volunteers to contribute to society and bridge the gap between foreign visitors and locals.

In the second week of the Peru program you will take a two-day excursion to Machu Picchu and then four days in the Manu wilderness area, the richest, most extraordinary biological tract in the Peruvian Amazon if not in the world.

In the Manu Jungle, you will explore the tropical environment, Andean grasslands and cloud forests down to foothill and lowland forests. Manu Jungle boasts the highest bird, mammal, and plant diversity of any park on Earth, including 1,000 of the world's 9,700 bird species, 200 species of mammals, and 15,000 species of flowering plants.

Volunteer abroad longer by adding an extension

The Peru Adventure program lasts 14 days, but it doesn't have to end there... Adding one of these volunteering opportunities as an extension means you will be able to stay longer and achieve more, or enjoy another program, for much less than the cost of buying two separate programs.

Depending on the extension you choose, you can save around $500 / £325.
