Keeping in touch :)

I hope you all back home have enjoyed following the blog as much as I have enjoyed writing it and of course following this amazing group of volunteers! If you’re wanting to continue to support the projects that Reach out Volunteers runs, we would greatly appreciate any contribution to the Reach Out volunteer Charity. 100%…

The lost day – “we’re almost there!”

Hey guys it seems the second last days blog didn’t post 🙁 here it it!! Today was a productive day! At the first crèche we finished building all the blocks that would be needed for the next group to build the structure of the soup kitchen. We also mixed a whole heap more cement to…

A note from Jess

Today I sent many volunteers to the airport either heading home or on further adventures. And this day always makes me sad. I love my job but the one thing I struggle with is goodbyes. Being over here and doing the work we have done creates very special connections. It’s not like a regular holiday,…

The final touches and final day

The last day was upon us. And I’m impressed to say that a large proportion of volunteers made it to the beach for sunrise at 4:30am. It was nice to just sit in silence, and watch the sun slowing ascend above the clouds on the horizon. It was a beautiful way to start the day….

Day 2 at the crèches and so much is happening! The children are as excitable as ever and the enthusiasm hasn’t waned. Today we were continuing on with yesterday’s jobs, just everybody was switched around. Some jobs were a bit tougher than others…the soil for digging is very hard and pick axes are needed…and mixing…

All work and all play :)

Today it was time to head out to the crèche, meet the kids and see what’s on the agenda for the week. Well I can tell you now, it’s a lot 🙂 But first I want to describe to you the moment we arrived in our safari vehicles to the crèche. We turned the corner,…

Sunday fun day

Sunday fun day. Today was a relaxing Sunday before the hard work starts in the week. A well deserved sleep in was in order and a trip to the beach! The weather was perfect and hot, the sunblock applied liberally and the waves were rolling. A great few hours and a perfect way to start…

Welcome back to civilisation!

Today we were leaving the sanctuary and heading for the town of st lucia! An early start and some last minute packing saw us on our way. We arrived at around 10am and got settled into our new rooms. Then it was time for an orientation around town…finding the grocery store, laundry, souvenir shops and…
