Today was a day of getting our hands dirty and getting work done!
Today our aims were to start creating the foundation block for a new soup kitchen at the first Creche, finish the plastering at the second Creche as well as loading and unloading multiple trucks full of sand and stone for the cement mixing.
The cement mix for the foundations included a LOT of stones in it so was very hard work but everyone pitched in and started helping straight away!
It was hot work under the sun but everyone kept each other motivated and rotated round looking after the kids for a break in between, only it turns out playing with these kids is just as much of a workout!
After finishing our first large batch of cement we went into the creche to sing and dance with the kids as they sang some of their favourite songs.
The truck group was extremely busy all day as they were either constantly loading up the back of the truck or unloading as the drove between the different work sites and quarries.
Luckily Bernie was able to find a helper when he needed a broom to sweep out the rest of the stones.
Whenever we were getting tired the kids were always on hand to help out or support us with their smiles and laughter.
As we came to the end of the day we got one final huge load of concrete mixed and now have nearly completed the base for the new soup kitchen. It was definitely tough work but very rewarding to see everyone working together so hard.
After work we headed down to a local restaraunt for a much needed Milkshake and some relaxation time.
We then had a lovely Spaghetti dinner, played some cards and had an early night ready for tomorrows workload.
