Unlike yesterday today was hot! The sun was out shinning bright and hot even at 9am. Fortunately we had managed to finish the really tough manual work yesterday. Mind you, we still had lots to do.
Today we were scrapping and sanding down the ceiling boards,
we needed to sand down and varnish the jungle gym
and we needed to put the ceiling up.
After all of that, if we still had time we could paint the walls inside the creche! Everyone was raring to go and they all got stuck in straight away.
After lunch we headed back to St Lucia as we were off to the nearby Zulu Cultural Village for the afternoon.
We visited the Sangoma (Traditional Healer) in the modern village, which has about 17,000 inhabitants and a couple of the girls had their fortune told.
We then went into the Cultural Village to learn about how the Zulu’s used to live in their traditional way. The volunteers got involved by helping with the grass mat weaving,
trying on the various different outfits that are worn by the Zulu men and women depending on their marital status,
trying out some stick fighting abd getting up and shaking it with the Zulu Dancers!
Everyone had a great evening and all seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.
