It’s ok, It’s organic

Day four complete! We did heaps of work today!! We were at the work sight all day long, and we did so much!!

Anthea did her thang again this morning teaching the kids! She is really in her element when she teaches. It’s awesome to see her reading to the kids and having them participate in the activities. You can tell that they understand what she’s asking and want to learn everyday. I love watching their progress and seeing her excitement when they get questions right or read something correctly. The kids are so darn cute too!!

She jumped in and helped us this afternoon with our work over at the toilets. We began this morning mixing cement again and using it for plastering. We are plastering the outside of the toilet building as well as finishing the waterproof septic tank below ground. Once the septic tank is fully plastered, we can put in the plumbing tubes and be one step closer!

We also did a lot of sweeping and cleaning up today. Maddi also had a go at watering her very own brick garden. We think the bricks are a very cool idea for a garden and will be the talk of the town when its done. ;). Justttt kidding! We have to keep the new bricks wet for about 6 days for them to dry properly. We also took time in making the windows in the toilets for ventilation. Ricky and Maddi were on demolition crew while the rest of us made them look pretty. Sean, our fearless leader of the program really wanted them to look professional and good, but when we asked him if they were up to his standards his response would be, “well sort of, but it’s organic.” We didn’t really know what that meant, but it became the quote of the day. It’s okay guys, it’s organic.DSCN1440 DSCN1424

Want a high five??

Want a high five??

We had some epic sandwiches for lunch and found some adorable kids throughout our day today. Be careful, we all want to take some home with us. Maddi and Chris had some trouble with the kids chasing them and trying to climb on them. With two against 50, it’s safe to say that the kids won. There are so many of them!!DSCN1461

It was an awesome awesome day, though and we are all very happy being here. It is lots of work, but it is such a chilled out, beach vibe. Everyone seems relaxed, yet motivated throughout the day. We love it.

After work, we went down to the beach again and grabbed some snacks and a quick dip. Well… Anthea and Ricky were the only ones brave enough to take a swim (the wind was whipping a bit this afternoon) but the rest of us got a chance to unwind from the day and relax.

This evening, we roadtripped it up to a cute little restaurant where Sean had organized a big meal for us all. It was a feast! We had chicken, rice, fries, salad and all kinds of yummy sauces for each dish. We ate it all, too if you can believe it!! Tonight will be an early night because we have all of our activities tomorrow!! We get to go swimming with dolphins and quad biking all in one day!! It’ll be early, but totally worth it.
