Goodbye friends!

It doesn’t matter how many times it happens, the goodbye day never gets any easier. We all have a very unique experience with each other where we meet all these extraordinary individuals where we become extremely close. The farewell is always bitter sweet, because we come from all corners of the globe. The things we…

Goodbye Elephants

This is the final day at the Elephants and I don’t think any of us were ready to go. We had breakfast at the same time and then went to say goodbye to the Elephants one last time. Yamaha is setting the new fashion trend. This week has set so many things in motion for…

Finally Bathing Together…Let’s Get Weird.

“Susuday” from the Elephant Sanctuary! Writing to you tonight are volunteers Lacy, Tasha & Dylan. Sadly today was our last full day here and we think it’s pretty obvious that we’ll all miss this amazing place! This morning we split in our two groups and went to work! One group potted mango seedlings in the…

Schooled!

The volunteers went to the local school this morning to teach English. The volunteers don’t get a lot of preparation for this sort of thing and is some ways it’s a lot better because they can’t psych themselves out! Once we arrived and there were several hundred Cambodian Children waving at us on our arrival,…

Shenanigans with seeds and water…

Hey everyone this is Amelia, Kelsey, Yemaya, and Allison!! Today was another phenomenal day at the Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary. And lucky us, Stew is letting us write today’s post! Today we had two groups hard at work weeding the nurseries, planting seeds in the organic garden, and building the dam to prepare for rainy season….

Day two at the sanctuary (Yesterday)

This morning we got straight into it. The group was split up into two groups so we could cover more work without getting underfoot. The first group got the smelly and dirty job of cleaning out the geese pen and to their credit all the volunteers dove straight into it and finished it with enough…

Wifi is back up!

Sorry for the delay, especially those that wanted to know the details about their friends and loved ones latest adventures. The wifi went down in a recent storm and it has taken several days to get it back up. I have continued doing the writing daily, but had to save it on my laptop until…

A tearful farewell.

We finished up at the sanctuary yesterday. Oh how we have achieved so much. Everything the volunteers have achieved have been crucial steps in the evolution of this community into something sustainable. They had a great time doing it, they said a final farewell to the Elephants yesterday. Bye bye Arun Rai and Kumlin Stan…

The Projects continue!

This morning was both amazing and slightly disheartening. It was our last day at the Elephant sanctuary, tomorrow we will say our final farewell to the Elephants before the journey back to Siem Reap. The two groups were farmers today, the first were doing weeding around the sugar canes and banana trees to make sure…

Teaching and growing.

I’m sitting right now in the common food hall, as the sounds of enthusiastic voices fill the air along with broken english as the the volunteers give lessons in English to the local rangers (They protect the forest from the illegal loggers) and their children. It is moments like these that I realise how truly…
