Elephant Day 1!

Hi all, welcome to the first day of our elephant rescue work!

Today we had a 2 hour bus ride to the elephant sanctuary, and moved straight into our bungalows once we had arrived.

We settled in and had lunch and an orientation. The lunch was absolutely delicious! The elephant refuge is a vegetarian  zone but even the meat lovers were obsessed with the food – it’s out of this world! It was a good start to our fantastic week ahead of us!
We LOVE the puppies that live around our bungalows, they’re cheeky but so cute!

We settled in and hung our hammocks after lunch, we all share various balconies so we’re looking forward to a few relaxing afternoons after such an amazingly packed week last week!

In the afternoon we saw the monkeys and interacted with them. Then we cut up fruit, sugar cane and banana trees for the elephants. We’re in love with them already and can’t wait to start work! We finished the day with a volleyball game before dinner and a very eye opening documentary about elephants.

Tomorrow we’re looking forward to bathing the elephants and spending time preparing food for them. We look forward to sharing all of the hilarious stories with you tomorrow!

For now, we wish you all a good night! Please stay tuned for photos.
