Dress politely in the village.
In major cities like Siem Reap and Phnom Penh the Cambodians are very cosmopolitan in their attitudes. If you go out to dinner at night you can wear pretty much what you would wear on a hot night in your home town.
When we work in the villages outside the major cities people are much more conservative and we have to respect the more modest dress codes.
So fall on the side of being a bit conservative. T-shirts are fine but tank tops with straps may cause problems. No short shorts, but close to knee length is not a problem. Also, because it is very hot it is better to be a bit covered up so that you don’t get badly sunburnt. The sun can be really not mid-year.
