Saying Our Last Goodbyes

This morning we left the island. We had a short rainy boat ride, took a break for lunch, and then ventured to Phnom Phen by bus. The volunteers have all made it to the city safe and sound! Tomorrow our volunteers part ways…some are getting on planes, others on buses, and some are going to…

Bonfire Bye Bye

Today was regrettably our last day on the island. We started the day off right by working hard to complete the few projects we still had on the go. First we collected firewood and broke it up at the garbage incinerator site. We also finished laying the foundation bricks, as well as cleaned up some…

Sparking Friendships

We had a ton of projects on the go today! We finished up some, started others, and cleaned up some areas in general. The volunteers gathered more rocks for the water reservoir foundation, and dug up more cement sand. We hammered the rocks into the cement and hopefully finished up solidifying the foundation. We also…

Sanding and Getting Sandy

Today was reef pod preparation day! We had our last certification dive too! The visibility was a little short, however, everyone completed the dive successfully! YAY! Now we are all certified! The on land work was preparing our reef pods. First, they all had to be sanded down. This took a lot of hard work,…

Sunday Fun-day

Day off means another sleep in, woohoo! We had a late breaky and relaxed this morning. Most volunteers busted out the books and relaxed in some lounge chairs…Others went for walks to take pictures of the village… And some went to the beach. After lunch we were in the water! The volunteers had their second…

Weekend Warriors

Finally, its the weekend! A relaxing day has been much needed after our work week. We started off by having a little sleep in…and by sleep in I mean we ate breakfast closer to 8am than 7am today. This morning was kind of slow. It was quite rainy, so some napped, others played music, and…

Ready for the Weekend

Today was our last work day before the weekend! Woohoo we’ve made it 😀 The end of this week has been a little more rainy. The storms rolling in really do a number on our wifi connection, but all is well. I do apologize for the lack of photos, I am only able to upload…

Friendship Starts with a Solid Foundation

This morning all the volunteers got to work together! We finished digging the trenches for the water reservoir, and began to stabilize the foundation. We broke roof tiles and bricks and then mixed it into the muddy soil. After that layer we hand picked rocks and layered them on the top of the foundation. This…

Up One Volunteer

Today was pretty gosh darn busy! We picked up one volunteer from Sihanoukville. Ellie finally has joined us after getting to stay a few extra days shopping in Phenom Phen, thanks to the airline losing her luggage. But she has had a great time so far, and is excited to finally be on the island!…
