Leaving the island this morning was very hard for the volunteers. We’ve all become so close to each other and the locals in the village. We left on the boat at 8 am, got a quick lunch, then got on a bus to Phnom Penh. We arrived here around 6 pm and everyone ran up to their rooms to shower! Afterwards, several volunteers went out to the night markets one last time. They walked in the hotel looking like camels so prepare for a lot of souvenirs! Tomorrow, some volunteers will head to Siem Reap to join the village and elephants group, others will go to the airport and head home, and our three teachers will head back to the island on Sunday. It has been an incredible and rewarding two weeks. The volunteers worked very hard, played very hard, and created lasting memories on Koh Rong.
This was my last group as a team leader this season. I cannot believe how quickly the season went by. I am very lucky to have met and led all the volunteers I’ve had in Cambodia since May! Looking back I can remember crazy stories, funny inside jokes people back home will surely get annoyed by, and amazing friends I’ve made along the way. I personally would like to thank all of my volunteers and Reach Out for making the last three months so memorable and life changing.
I want to say thank you to all those parents and friends who have followed the blogs (and especially those that commented along the way!). I hope you have enjoyed reading the blog as much as I have enjoyed sharing it with you.
If you would like to continue to support the projects that Reach Out Volunteers runs, we would greatly appreciate any contribution to the Reach Out Volunteers Charity. 100% of all donations go to on-ground projects to continue to support these communities when volunteers aren’t around.

Thank you so much for your support and you will be seeing your loved ones soon, no doubt you’ll be hearing all their stories too!
Farewell for now!
