After getting a nice break from eating rice this morning for breakfast (We got bread and scrambled eggs for a change, rejoice!), we got started on sanding the reef pods. The reef pods are made of metal and in this climate they rust very fast. Our job was to sand off the multiple layers of rust. This ended up being an all day project (when it was only supposed to take 4 hours). We had to make sure to remove all the rust, if there’s any left over, they will only last 30 years verses 300 years! We have never been this dirty and scrapped up in our lives, but it was so worth it! These pods help rebuild the damaged reefs around this area by acting as substrate for the various corals to attach to. Now for tonight we plan to relax our tired bodies and hands by watching Pitch Perfect 2!
