It’s been a hard week of work! For the first part of the week, the weather wasn’t cooperating with us so that we could dive, but after sitting him down and giving him a good talking to, he’s promised to be better for next week and not let it all happen again.
Next week we plan to start planting some new reef pods, explore the old ones, and take photos for you guys of all the progress the original reef pods have made since their debut.
After finishing the foundation of the water catchment, (HOORAY!!) we’ve now begun to lay the rest of the brick for the catchment. It’s going to be a big one! Yesterday we worked hard and got to even have lunch with one of the local ladies, Mrs. Tong, who invited everyone over to eat some of her incredibly delicious food. Despite speaking virtually no English, she’s one of the nicest people I know.
After lunch, we worked on our dive skills, then packed up and made the trek to the other side of the island to have some good western food, relax and get geared up for another week of hard (but rewarding) work in the village. It’s going to be a blast!
Until next time,
