Hey guys! I’m Casey, I’m the team leader on the island for the next month.
Also, in case you’re wondering, we don’t have much internet connection here on Koh Rong, (the island,) so do not worry if you don’t see any updates for a day or so; all is well!
So what’s happened with us lately?! Everything!
Yesterday everyone came to Phnom Penh to meet up for the beginning of program, and to explore the heart and capitol of Cambodia, or maybe just relax and take advantage of the cheap massages!
Today, however, we loaded up and made our way to the coastal town of Sihanoukville. After we arrived, we grabbed some quick lunch at The Holy Cow, and then hopped in a tuk-tuk to jump on our final stretch of our journey.
We dragged all of our bags out of our rides, and hopped on a fully loaded boat of food and drinks to push through the beautiful turquoise-green water separating us from our soon-to-be Cambodian family.
As we all laughed and talked our way to the island, we started to see the mountains of the island growing bigger and bigger, until finally we stepped off, onto the main dock of Koh Rong. We’re finally here!!
Immediately we had a walk-through of the village, found our beds (complete with bug nets,) and began to play with our little friends who couldn’t wait to play.
We all settled down to a traditional Khmer meal, and got to work on our theory work for our diving licenses so that we can begin some of our diving tomorrow!
It’s going to be a great time filled with amazing people, so keep coming back to keep up with us!
Until next time!
