Last day in the community is always hard. We bond with the kids, the families and the teachers and no one ever wants to leave. To finish the week off, we got the concrete frame and the wood frame for the roof up. We also finished leveling the ground off, and we got the first brick layers down. At the end of the second week we will head back and see the final project!
After the project on Friday, we headed to the local water hole for a quick swim before heading back to the city. Before dinner we took the volunteers to the local carnival for some bumper cars! We spent about an hour there and then headed back for dinner. After dinner we went out and hit the town. We sang, we danced and it was a great way to finish off the week after all the hard work this group of volunteers put in.
The following morning at 8:30am, we went to Kulan Mountain where the waterfall is. This is the best I have ever seen it, and there was so much water. We went swimming for about an hour, a few of us climbed the waterfall; it was so much fun!! We left the mountain at about 2:00pm went back to the hotel and then went to and got the vols a special dinner….MEXICAN FOOD AHHHHH! However we aren’t done yet, finally to end the day off we went to the Cambodian circus! Everyone loved the acrobatics, the comedy, and the story!
Now it’s time for ELEPANTS!! That’s right ELEPHANTS! Crazy to think that the first week is past, time has flied by. We will be at the sanctuary for the last week it’s so exciting!!
Also quick note, the volunteers will not have wifi while at the sanctuary so they have to go a whole week without there phones! Let’s hope they survive! :p
There will be a new location for the blog while we are at the sanctuary, here ya go:
