Cambodian Village Building Projects

Family loses everything!

Remember the Cambodian family of four who were literally living in a pig pen having lost their house and all possessions in a ferocious storm in July?

When our 16 village volunteers heard about their plight they acted immediately.

This homeless family became their dedicated Cambodian village building project.  They cleared the land and built the foundation blocks.

The whole project from plot clearing to finished house was completed in a week!

The volunteers also worked on a new garden next to the house to provide food for the family.

Volunteers purchased new mats for the floor, pillows, new mosquito nets, new pots and pans, and other household items. The family arranged a blessing ceremony with a local monk and tied blessed bracelets on every volunteer to show their immense gratitude.

It was such a rewarding and humbling experience; one that our group of volunteers will never forget.

Now 3 months later, the family are currently very busy with rice planting in the village paddies. Their house has become a home and the vegetables of eggplant, morning glory and winter melon, are providing much needed fresh food, albeit there is not much time at the moment for tending the garden. The family are very happy and send best wishes to all the volunteers who worked so hard for them.
