The amount of progress we made today had been very impressive! It was straight into it this morning, as we had many volunteers in the beams of the roof, tying on the grass weaved ceiling. It’s truly amazing what you can do with your bare hands, some hammers, nails, saws and some wire! By the time lunch came around half the roof was already done!
There were many shenanigans happening in the activities today including playing tip, some intense games of football (soccer) and basketball, but always having a great time with the kids there.
In the afternoon the teachers could be found in one of the huts planning their lessons for the rest of the week and next and definitely not relaxing and eating yummy fruit 😛 Some very helpful workbooks were used and some creative thinking!
The end of the day saw the roof completed and the start of an awning put on! Fantastic progress and seeing as we only have Friday left to finish it, as tomorrow will be spent at Angkor Wat, it’s lucky we did!
In the evening we headed out to a local fair ground where there were market stalls, different foods in all directions, carnival games and rides and a great friendly atmosphere. Some were lucky in the darts game and other not, while no one was very successful at the shooting targets game. It was a really fun night out and good to see the way that the locals spend their free time. But it was back in the tuk tuks for dinner and with a tummy full of food, most people had an early night!
