Today was a day spent in the roof. Let me explain. After arriving in the morning, our aim today was to attached the main roof. It is done with grasses that are tied together. Luckily for us they were pre made, but that didn’t mean it was any less complicated. Up on the roof we had to take individual pieces of wire and loop them through the grass and into the roof beams as well as overlapping and making the grass straight. It took awhile to get the hang of it but before you knew it, we were once again a well oiled efficient machine! By lunch time we had half the roof on and had some well deserved food and iced coffee/milo.
After lunch as well as playing and teaching the kids, it was back in the roof and a race against the clock to finish! Of course the goal i set was achieved by these legendary volunteers and they could step back, look upwards and admire their handy work. With the roof in place it’s really starting to look like a real house! Exciting!! As we are going to Angkor Wat tomorrow, we only have 1 day to finish the whole thing…it’s a big job but I know they an do it!
Dinner was at a local restaurant and was delicious (even if some people did order hamburgers and pasta haha) We have an early morning tomorrow, 5am early, so it was a pretty quiet night for most with some venturing out to do some night exploring.
Good night and a good tomorrow!
