Hi everyone! Today was everyone’s last day at KidTea and BFOK. The volunteers worked extremely hard to hit their weekly goals and we celebrated with goodbye ceremonies at both schools 🙂
Today was a very fun day! We started the day by planting lemon grass all up and down the street leading up to the school. The women in the community use lemon grass for cooking but it also repels all the mosquitoes! A lot of the volunteers wanted to take some up to the elephant sanctuary knowing how buggy the jungle can be! After planting we jumped straight into finishing the toilet. There were several jobs to go around today- laying bricks, mixing concrete for the floor, making a door, nailing up the last wall, and connecting the toilet to the pipe. A few volunteers also got to help cook lunch or go into classrooms to teach. After a very long day of hard work, we finally completed the toilet. I can’t believe the volunteers were able to complete this project in just 4 days! That is absolutely incredible and I am so proud of everyone who came out and worked so hard this week. At the end of our work day, Sophan threw us a goodbye party with dinner and a thank you ceremony. We all said our goodbyes and as a surprise, some of the school girls brought down scarves or hand drawn pictures for every volunteer who worked on the project! It was very sweet and I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope we can all end up back at BFOK at some point to volunteer again. It is a wonderful school with incredibly welcoming and kind, helpful people. We were all quite sad to leave; we definitely made some great memories this past week!

The last day at school!
It was the last day at the school. We had done lots of things that we can’t believe. We had lots of experience from the work place. In the morning it was the same most of the day. We divided to different groups. There were providing to mixing cement, moving bricks and digging whole for poles. After we worked very hard and then we had a water break and then we switched the groups.
Last lunch at the school. We will miss all local foods in the school. After lunch we backed to our work again which were the same the morning. It always very hot here but now we did it!
When we finished our work at 3.30pm we played with the kids there and we are also dancing with them with English and Khmer songs. We were really enjoyed with our last day at the school but we are sad to leave from them. We don’t want to leave from the kids there. They are so cute. We are going to miss them a lot!
