The first group of volunteers have arrived today!
This morning Cambodia first warmly welcomed Jordan and Beth from Canada!
Once the girls settled in we headed off for their first taste of Khmer cuisine! Lok lak was the meal of choice for both gals. My personal favorite 🙂 While eating lunch we got to meet the restaurant’s adorable little puppy Mulan who everyone will want to bring home by the end of the week!
After lunch we took a stroll around the town of Siem Reap where we will be staying for the first week while working in the village. Jordan and Beth enjoyed a nice afternoon of drinking whole coconuts and watermelon shakes while scoping out the best massage places!
Later that evening we welcomed two more volunteers, Tom (UK) and Merinda (Australia), who spent the day journeying in from Cambodia’s capital city, Phnom Penh. *picture will be up tomorrow!* Tom and Merinda have already been in Cambodia for two weeks experiencing the wonderful island life of the Cambodia Marine Conservation Program located on Koh Rong Island. They have extended their trip to the village and elephants 🙂 Once they arrived we all headed out for dinner and enjoyed the beautiful evening weather.
Hour long massages were our evening activities but soon after called it a night as everyone was a bit tuckered out from the long day of travel.
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day as we get to welcome 17 more volunteers from all over the world!
