You’re Almost In Cambodia!

Hello our fantastic Cambodian volunteers! Our names are Tara and Sophea, and we will be your team leaders for your two-week stay in this incredible country.

A little bit about Sophea: I am from Veal Village in the Siem Reap area. This is my first time working for ROV, and I am excited to meet you all. In my spare time I like to play sports and read books. Next week I will be helping you begin the construction project, and I’m excited to show you more about my culture and hometown.

A little bit about Tara: I have been with ROV since August and have loved every minute of it. I love traveling and am very passionate about seeing the world and helping out communities in need as I can imagine is true for you all as well. ROV has made a huge impact on my life and I am excited for this experience to do the same for you. Other than traveling, I also love skiing, hiking, biking and playing sports. I am also quite the human jukebox and love to sing. I have taken it upon myself to learn all the words to every Disney song out there as well as a wide repertoire of random songs. I love puns and bad jokes, I’m obsessed with coffee and recently my favorite flavor ice cream is pistachio. Basically, I’m a weirdo but if nothing else, I’ll be here for your entertainment!

We can’t wait for you all to arrive, and everyone is so excited to meet you! We have been out to the village of Kro Bei Riel to see the project and have also met the kids there. They’re pumped for you to get here to play with them. We had an epic game of basketball yesterday, so be prepared to laugh, play and dance to Justin Bieber all week. Then we all get to spend the whole second half with the elephants and monkeys. I won’t spoil all the surprises, but I know we are going to have a blast together!

I’ll be updating this blog throughout the week, but if you or your parents want to share in the excitement, please leave your comments below.

See you soon!
