Reach Out Volunteers offers Units of Study that can be completed while on program. Join others that have successfully gained Academic Credit towards the completion of their university courses.

Not only are the benefits personally rewarding, but your insights, conclusions and data collection will help support ROV projects and be directly used for future regional development.

What are Reach Out Units of Study?

The units are academic components directly relating to core aspects of our program’s focus. The units may involve reflection on the challenges facing teachers in a global setting, they may involve data collection and analysis of specific ecosystems such as marine conservation or they may explore the nature of leadership and small team management.

Benefits of completing a Study Unit:

Academic Credit:
  • On completion of a program and unit of study, students may qualify for Academic Credit with their University or Learning Institution.
  • If requested, Reach Out Volunteers will adapt their Units of Study to enable individual achievement of academic credit.
  • Students can also submit their own study units for implementation on program, in order to obtain academic credit.
  • Obtaining academic credit while participating in an amazing program.
  • Greater awareness of the current challenges facing developing communities.
  • The satisfaction of knowing that your research and insights will directly help the communities with whom you have been working.
Career Oriented:
  • Developing cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Establishing future career networking opportunities.
  • Gaining valuable experience to differentiate you from your peers.
  • Obtaining a Certificate of Completion outlining your skills and achievements, which can be attached to your resume.
  • Greater awareness of working in a global environment.
In Situ:
  • Being involved in research and data collection, which can be used in presentations to local and national authorities for implementation of sustainable economic, social and environmental change.
Added Extra:
  • A Certificate of Completion will be issued on the successful completion of all aspects of the unit.
What’s involved:

Our course requirements vary but usually include:

  • Keeping a daily journal or involvement in regular data collection or attending training sessions.
  • Participating in all program activities.
  • Participation in feedback sessions.
  • Verbal presentation of material.
  • Submission of one or two written pieces.
Cost and Completion:

All courses have practical components to be completed during the program. Written work is to be submitted no later than 2 weeks after program completion.

Cost of each unit is $750 / £580. Course material will be supplied prior to program commencement.
